Terms and Conditions – Menorca Yacht Rental

Last updated: October 16, 2026

These terms govern every charter booking made through menorcayachtrental.com or arranged by email, phone or WhatsApp with Menorca Yacht Rental. They explain how an enquiry turns into a confirmed charter, what you pay and when, what happens if plans change on either side, and the rules that apply once you and your guests step aboard.

By sending an enquiry, accepting a written quote or boarding a yacht arranged through us, you accept these terms. If any point in your written confirmation differs from this page, the written confirmation applies to your charter.

Who are we and what does this page cover?

Menorca Yacht Rental is the trading brand under which charters are arranged for yachts and boats based in Menorca, Spain, ranging from day-boats to superyachts, with day rates starting from €1,700. We act as the point of contact for your enquiry, quote and booking confirmation, and we work with the vessel's owner and crew to deliver the charter you have booked.

This page applies to every charter booked through menorcayachtrental.com, by email, by phone or via WhatsApp. It sits alongside the written quote and confirmation you receive for your specific charter, which set out the yacht, dates, price and any extras agreed for your booking.

How does an enquiry become a confirmed booking?

You start the process by sending an enquiry, either through the form on our website (name, email, optional phone number, optional yacht choice, charter start and end dates, number of guests and a free-text message) or directly by email, phone or WhatsApp. No payment is taken on the website itself.

Once we receive your enquiry, we reply with a written quote covering the yacht, dates, price and anything included or charged as an extra. A booking only becomes binding once we confirm it in writing and the applicable deposit set out below has been received. Until that point, availability is not guaranteed, even if we have discussed dates with you.

What is included in the price, and what is charged separately?

The price confirmed in your written quote is the price you pay for the charter itself. Fuel, marina fees, any advance provisioning allowance (APA) on larger yachts, catering and other extras are only charged if they are listed in your written quote. We do not add charges that were not quoted to you in writing.

If you would like catering, extra equipment or a longer route than first discussed, let us know before the charter so these can be priced and confirmed in writing in advance.

How do payment and deposit work?

For day charters, a 30% deposit secures your date and the balance is paid before boarding. For multi-day charters, 50% is paid at the time of booking and the balance is due 30 days before embarkation. Your written confirmation will state the exact amounts and the deadline for each payment.

If a required payment is not received by the stated deadline, we may treat the booking as cancelled by you under the cancellation terms below and release the date to other guests.

Can I cancel or change my booking, and does the 14-day withdrawal right apply?

Under EU consumer law, the usual 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply to leisure services booked for a specific date, such as a yacht charter (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(l); in Spain, Article 103(l) of Royal Legislative Decree 1/2007). Because your charter is tied to the date you book, you cannot withdraw simply because you change your mind within 14 days of booking.

Instead, we apply the following voluntary cancellation policy. If you cancel more than 30 days before departure, you receive a full refund minus a 10% handling fee. If you cancel between 14 and 30 days before departure, you receive a 50% refund. If you cancel less than 14 days before departure, no refund is given. You are entitled to one free date change if you request it at least 72 hours before departure; later change requests are treated as a cancellation under the tiers above unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Can we cancel or change your charter?

If the captain or the relevant port authority considers conditions unsafe for sailing, you choose between a free new date and a full refund. The captain's decision on safety is final and is not open to negotiation, as it is made to protect you, your guests and the crew.

The same choice of a free new date or a full refund applies if a technical problem with the yacht, or any other event beyond our reasonable control, makes the confirmed charter impossible to carry out as planned. We will tell you as early as we can once such a situation becomes apparent and will work with you to find a suitable alternative date where possible.

How many guests can board, and who is in charge once we are underway?

The number of guests on board may never exceed the vessel's licensed capacity, and the crew may refuse boarding to anyone whose condition or behaviour could endanger the safety of the yacht, its crew or other guests. If you are travelling with children, please tell us their ages when booking so the crew can prepare appropriately.

Once on board, the captain has full authority over the vessel, the route and the day's schedule. Rather than following a fixed template, our itineraries are planned to reach calas such as Macarelleta or Pregonda in quieter early or late windows and to return through Mahón's harbour once day-tripper traffic has cleared, with the route adjusted on the day against wind and boat traffic. The captain may alter the planned itinerary, anchorage or timing at any point for reasons of safety, weather, sea conditions or port instructions, and such changes do not entitle you to a refund.

What is expected of guests on board, and who pays for damage?

Guests are expected to follow the crew's safety instructions at all times, to respect the yacht and its equipment, and to behave in a way that does not put other guests, the crew or the vessel at risk. The captain may end a charter early, without refund, if a guest's conduct seriously endangers safety or the vessel.

The client is responsible for damage to the yacht, its equipment or tender caused by the deliberate acts or negligence of the client or their guests during the charter, beyond normal wear and tear. Personal belongings brought on board remain the owner's responsibility at all times; we recommend not bringing anything of significant value that you would not want exposed to sun, sea spray or the ordinary movement of a boat.

What are the limits of our liability, and how do I raise a complaint?

We arrange your charter with care and work only with crews we consider competent and vessels we consider properly equipped for the waters around Menorca. Our liability is limited to making good any failure to provide the charter as confirmed in writing; we are not liable for losses caused by weather, sea conditions, decisions taken by the captain for safety reasons, or events beyond our reasonable control, nor for indirect losses such as missed connecting travel.

If something about your charter falls short of what was agreed, please tell the crew at the time if possible, and follow up in writing to [email protected] as soon as you can afterwards. We will look into the matter and respond with our findings and, where appropriate, a proposed resolution.

What are the rules for using our website?

The content on menorcayachtrental.com, including yacht descriptions, photographs, pricing information and text, is provided to help you plan and request a charter. You may view and share this content for that purpose, but you may not copy, republish or reuse it for commercial purposes without our written permission.

The enquiry form and WhatsApp button are provided to let you contact us about a charter; using them for any other purpose, or submitting false information through them, is not permitted. We may correct errors in yacht listings, pricing or availability on the website at any time, and the written quote you receive is what governs your actual booking.

Which law applies, and can these terms change?

These terms, and any booking made through Menorca Yacht Rental, are governed by Spanish law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved directly between us will be submitted to the courts of Spain, without prejudice to any mandatory right you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in the courts of your own place of residence.

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect how we operate; the version published on menorcayachtrental.com at the time of your enquiry applies to your booking, and any change will not affect a charter already confirmed in writing. Questions about these terms can be sent to [email protected].
